The first two weeks, done right

A day-by-day guide to healing your tattoo so the line stays crisp and the color stays true.

The first two weeks, done right

Most of how a tattoo ages is decided in its first fortnight. Keep it clean, keep it moisturized, and keep your hands off it — the rest is patience. Days one to three: leave the wrap on as instructed, then wash gently with fragrance-free soap and pat dry. A thin layer of aftercare balm, twice a day, is plenty. Days four to fourteen: expect flaking and a little itch. Do not pick or scratch. No pools, no long soaks, and keep it out of direct sun until it has fully settled.
